Potency Inflation
Potency inflation is the pattern of advertised percentages running higher than what independent retesting finds — a documented problem across both state-licensed cannabis and hemp. The mechanisms range from lab shopping (sending samples to whichever lab reads highest) to cherry-picking the best bud for the test jar. You cannot fix the industry from your couch, but you can shop around it: prefer vendors whose numbers recompute cleanly, treat suspiciously round or record-setting percentages as a flag, and remember that a 24.63% reading is more believable than a 31% one precisely because it is less exciting.
